Scotland Rocks! - by Dale

We landed in Edinburgh and immediately felt like we were on familiar and yet different ground. The cobbled streets and old stone structures in the old part of the city give it away. Here old really means something, with dates going back 1000 years or more seen commonly. The weather has been a little bit of everything and changes so rapidly that there is no reason to get too comfortable or complain. Just enjoy it all. That's what we are doing and you dry quickly in the wind once the rain stops.

We have walked a lot since our arrival and yesterday was a real treat as we headed up the crags behind the city and enjoyed spectacular 360 degree views in bright sun and strong winds. The crags are well named as the area is crisscrossed with paths of varying steepness and substrate. Our path had many worn steps and is very well used still. On top, it was easy to pick landmarks and connect the areas below we have been walking. I think this is a little taste of what lies ahead as we are now heading for the highlands and perhaps some nearby but remote islands. Our rail pass gives us a lot of options and we will have more destinations worked out soon.

It felt like you could see forever
