Mundane Matters - by Laurie

Traveling is adventurous and exciting but right now our most urgent need is to do laundry. Not glamorous at all. We ran out of clean clothes in Stockholm but assumed it would be a relatively easy thing to deal with. After the 22-hour train ride to Narvik we settled into the Norumgården Bed & Breakfast, then gathered our clothes and walked downtown to where we were told we could do laundry. Turns out in Narvik there's no such thing as a laundromat (very uncommon anywhere, even the big cities). At the laundry they send the clothes to another town to be washed, which takes more than the few hours we had there. Not enough time to wash things in the sink and dry them either so we packed our dirties away for a couple more days. Another 22-hour train ride back to Stockholm followed immediately by a 6-hour ride to Oslo. Then laundry before adventure.

Washing machine in the bathroom. In the apartment in Copenhagen it was in the kitchen. We're clean!
